Intro

Abu Dhabi International Private School (AIS) is a co-educational institution established in Abu Dhabi in 1982.

Abu Dhabi International School implements the American system of teaching modified and adapted to meet the needs of the students and community it serves.

The primary goals are the acquisition of general education and ways of acquiring knowledge articulated with that offered at higher educational levels, taking into consideration the developments in technology.

Mission

Abu Dhabi International Pvt. School is a co-educational college preparatory school for day students from Kindergarden through Grade 12.

Our mission is to assist young people to become self-confident, responsible citizens. In partnership with parents, faculty, and administration, the school provides a foundation for lifelong learning and strives to maximize the personal growth of its students through:

Academics - Qualified faculty will promote academic excellence through educational experiences in and out of the classroom.

Athletics and Activities - The school, through its comprehensive Physical Education and Activities Programs, will promote individual interests, and abilities, and an appreciation for good health, competition, and responsible citizenship.

Arts - Our commitment is to provide visual and auditory literacy for every child by promoting fluency in the various modes of artistic communication. This program will encourage disciplined creativity through the use of higher level critical thinking and problem solving skills.

We believe each student is an intellectual, emotional, social, and physical being with unique attributes of learning, abilities, interests, and growth.



Philosophy of Education

We, at Abu Dhabi International Pvt. School, believe it is the responsibility of the School to provide an educational program that will assist the students to grow physically, intellectually, morally, and emotionally. The school should provide a program that will enable students to live happily as children and become responsible adult citizens realizing the most complete life possible within the limits of their environmental and individual needs, interests and abilities.

We believe:

  • Education is a continuous growth process by which people learn to think and act more effectively.

  • The school must provide facilities for each and every student to discover and develop his/her ability and personality through experiences in and out of the classroom.

School Objectives

The advancements in instructional methodology, educational psychology, and programmable learning technology have stimulated the development of a wide variety of effective teaching aids. These have created the need for continuous review and evaluation to determine the nature and direction of what is being taught in the classroom and how it is being taught. Devoted educators must utilize their knowledge and experience in creating a studious atmosphere in which children can develop and learn.

We at Abu Dhabi International Pvt. School believe that optimum learning can be accomplished through interaction between the school, students, and parents. In this environment, we strive to achieve the following objectives.

Objective 1

To teach the fundamental processes that lead to academic excellence in all aspects of the school's program by:

  • placing emphasis on understanding and discovery rather than on memorizations of factual information.

  • providing stimuli which encourage inquiry and curiosity, thus encouraging self-education and life long learning.

  • providing for individual learning styles.

  • providing small group and individualized instruction when possible.

  • inviting parental interest and involvement in the school on an individual basis or as groups and during parent-teacher conferences.

Objective 2

To encourage responsible membership in society by:

  • maintaining a climate that encourages freedom of thought while stressing personal responsibility and freedom of discussion.

  • stressing personal responsibility in group as well as in individual activities.

  • providing cross-cultural experiences that promote a spirit of good fellowship and international understanding through formal instruction, recreational and cultural activities.

  • encouraging discussions about the beliefs and conflicts of different cultures.

  • helping students become aware of historical and modern people of integrity and their contribution to mankind.

  • helping students develop a sense of dedication and commitment for the benefit of mankind.

Objective 3

To help students develop a sense of self-identity and integrity by:

  • employing faculty members who have a sense of purpose, dedication and a willingness to communicate with students in a manner that encourages the development of self-worth.

  • helping students discover their own capabilities.

Objective 4

To develop an appreciation of Arab cultural heritage and to encourage an appreciation of other cultures by:

  • promoting mankind's search for understanding through cultural studies.

  • teaching Arab cultural heritage and allowing student participation in and celebration of traditional Arab events.

Objective 5

To encourage constructive use of leisure time by:

  • encouraging reading for enjoyment and relaxation.

  • encouraging participation in programs of service to the school and community.

  • making the school the center of student activities by providing the facilities and opportunities for enhancement through sports, arts and crafts, music, drama, student publications, and other programs.
